   Every mining company has within its internal policies, ensure and safeguard for the total protection of its collaborators, all for the improvement of mining safety within its facilities, defining the technical and operational guidelines to prevent and control the occurrence of accidents and deaths of workers in the mines.

Looking to support the generation of a mining with social responsibility, Esmeraldas Santa Rosa, create its own point of mine rescue people. The station has specialized technical equipment such as harnesses, ropes, stretcher and a mobile mining rescue unit equipped for the immediate attention of any type of mining emergency as needed.

   The point also provides the elements of endowment and personal protection for the group of lifeguards who intervene in an emergency, including underground communication devices with surface, Polish self-rescue equipment with oxygen for one hour, and closed-circuit breathing equipment. W-70 based on oxygen with autonomy of four hours, so they can use very well.

Esmeraldas Santa Rosa within its good human habits, decided to link 12 lifeguards and two coordinators dedicated exclusively to the mining salvage function. The 15 employees of the company that previously integrated this point, and who are also in charge of other tasks, perform outstandingly, the role of emergency brigade members in the company.

In November 2013, was organized the first National Safety and Mining Rescue people Olympics by the ANM were held as an initiative to promote the culture of prevention and accidents in the mining sector, and reward, recognize and honor the people who perform this heroic work and humanitarian

In these Olympics, the competitors of ESMERALDAS SANTA ROSA, occupied the third place before more than 900 lifeguards, organized in gangs of six runners, from Norte de Santander, Santander, Boyacá, Cundinamarca, Antioquia, Caldas, Valle del Cauca, Cauca and Nariño.

They have been recognized in various media. In February 2012, the mine relief workers of the Boyacá West Support Point assisted three miners, one of whom died due to the emergency caused by asphyxiating gases at the El Totumo mine.

  Finally, every day the rescuers of Esmeraldas Santa Rosa work very hard, placing their knowledge for the benefit of the company, to control and prevent any emergency.
